About Andrea

Andrea McGimsey, a native of suburban, northern Virginia, has worked in Loudoun County since 1998 and has lived here since 2001.  She lives in the CountrySide neighborhood of Sterling.

In 2004 Andrea founded and directed a coalition of 17 local groups, the Campaign for Loudoun's Future (loudounsfuture.org), while working for the Piedmont Environmental Council. As a community organizer in eastern Loudoun, she helped thousands of her neighbors shape a positive future for our families.

Andrea is a former member of the Sterling Volunteer Fire Department. She raised $80,000 for the department and was honored with the 2003 Administrative Member of the Year Award. She is a graduate of MIT and holds a masters degree from NYU. Her professional experience includes a senior management role at America Online from 1998 to 2003, during the height of the company’s growth. She worked in online advertising and for the president of AOL Strategic Business Solutions, managing partnerships such as Fidelity Investments. Andrea now has her own consulting company based in Loudoun County, working with clients on marketing in interactive and traditional media.
